This Privacy Policy explains how CLEReady handles information when you use the Android app. It is written to match the app’s current behavior. If that behavior changes, we will update this policy.
The app stores the following locally (for example in an on-device database and app preferences):
| Category | Examples | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
| Study progress | Questions attempted, correct/incorrect answers, per-subject and per-topic accuracy, trends | Show your progress and weak topics |
| Practice & mock history | Session results, mock exam scores, timestamps | Review past sessions; resume study |
| Spaced repetition | Which questions are due/weak and their review schedule | Resurface questions you missed |
| Gamification | Study streak, daily goal, XP/levels, achievements, personal best, daily-challenge results | Keep you motivated to review |
| Bookmarks & notes | Saved questions, optional tags/folders | Quick access to items you flag |
| Settings | Theme, notification and study preferences | Remember your choices |
Question content (the reviewer’s question bank and explanations) ships inside the app. Your answers and progress stay on your device unless you use a feature described in section 3.
The leaderboard is served by our own backend (not a third party) and is off until you join. It does not use Google Play Games Services and does not require any account, sign-in, or email. When you tap “Join the leaderboard” — and thereafter when you finish a session or open the board — the app sends over HTTPS: a pseudonymous per-install identifier (a random device-scoped UUID we already use for content sync and question reports — not your advertising ID, not an account), used only as your player key so your own row can be highlighted; a randomly generated display handle (for example “BraveTarsier482”, assembled from a curated word list — you never type it, so there is no free-text field, and you can shuffle to a new random handle); and your total study XP as your score. The board shows only other players’ generated handles and scores — no avatars, no email, no real names, no account identity. If you tap Leave, the app stops sending your score; because the row is keyed to the per-install identifier, it drops out when you reinstall or clear app data. Client-submitted scores are treated as untrusted, rate-limited, and stored monotonically. All core study features work without ever joining.
If you use the free (non-Pro) experience, the app may show banner, interstitial, and optional rewarded ads. Google’s advertising and consent SDKs may process Advertising ID (AAID), device/ad interaction data, and consent choices in regions that require a certified CMP. See Google’s privacy policy. You can open Ad consent from Settings when required. Purchasing Pro removes ads in the app.
If you buy the Pro upgrade, Google Play processes the purchase. We receive entitlement status through the Play Billing Library; payment details are handled by Google.
The app uses Firebase Analytics (aggregate usage events such as screen opens and feature usage) and Firebase Crashlytics (crash and stability diagnostics, including device model, OS version, and app version). We do not upload your individual answers, bookmarks, or detailed study history to analytics.
Operators may publish in-app announcements (banner, modal, or image) that sync from our first-party backend. You can re-read them in Profile → Announcements. If you enable Product announcements under Profile, the app may also receive out-of-app notifications via Firebase Cloud Messaging. In that case a registration token is shared with Google (FCM) and stored on our backend keyed to the same pseudonymous per-install identifier used for content sync — not your advertising ID, and not tied to an account. You can turn this off anytime; in-app announcements can still appear without notification permission. Study reminders are separate and stay on-device.
If you report a question as incorrect or unclear, the app sends an anonymous report over HTTPS containing the question identifier and version, a category, an optional comment you type, the app version, and a timestamp. No account is required and the report does not include personal identifiers.
Question content ships bundled in the app. In a future release the app may download updated question packs over HTTPS. Content updates are one-way downloads of study material and do not send your personal data or study history.
If Android Auto Backup is enabled on your device and Google account, app data such as local databases and preferences may be included in your device’s backup according to Android/Google backup rules.
Depending on Android version and features you use, the app may request internet (ads, Play Billing, the opt-in leaderboard, question reports, content updates, opening this policy); notifications (optional study reminders and optional product announcement pushes); and Advertising ID (AdMob measurement where allowed). The app does not request access to your photos, media, files, contacts, precise location, microphone, or camera. You can deny or revoke permissions in Android Settings.
The app is intended for adult examination candidates. It is for users aged 18 and older and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through our own services. Because the leaderboard shows only randomly generated handles—without user-entered text or profile data—it does not expose players’ personal information. Do not use the app if you are under 18.
Local progress, history, and gamification data remain on the device until you clear them in Settings, clear app storage, or uninstall. If you joined the leaderboard, your generated handle and score are retained on our backend keyed to the per-install identifier; leaving stops further submissions and the row drops out when you reinstall or clear app data. Ad, purchase, and analytics/crash data retention follows Google’s policies.
Google (AdMob, Play, Firebase) may process data in countries where Google operates. Our own backend (opt-in leaderboard, question reports, content updates) is operated by Techsider Solutions and does not store your study history; it holds only what sections 3.1 and 3.5 describe.
Because there are no accounts in the app, there is no separate “delete my account” web form. To remove your leaderboard entry, tap Leave and clear app data or reinstall — the row is keyed to the per-install identifier and is not linked to any account.
We may update this policy when the app’s data practices change. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised policy, where permitted by law.
